Coop gameplay and client-server-side mods

Hello. I have just finished to play a singleplayer custom map, and i have remembered the coop gameplay. So, why not a coop server in CryMP? Have you planned to develop a coop mod? Otherwise, how is going the developing of a way to run client-server-side mods through SFW client? We could aim to opt for a mod i have found (http://www.cryengine.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=277&t=47988) if it will be released.

Hi man. We have already answered this 2 times. Of course co-op is something I always wanted for Crysis (2 players are enought to explore and fight at the same time) but real co-op is NOT POSSIBLE to make in Multiplayer. Things that have been made in Crysis Wars (I've tried that already) - are just a "joke" - sure it works a bit like co-op but asian soldiers there are not moving like they should - it's just a kind of "unfinished - forever". So as far as I know nobody has ever made finished coop - even for Crysis Wars - I mean the version which works like it should. Finall version. And yes - you can run client-server side mods on your server. Players needs to have files on their PC that are on server at the same time - as you know of course. I had my MapsExplorer mod running for 2 years (Steel Mill Open map) 2011-2013 - just simple mods but the issue was of course people needed to install things before they could enter. BTW: MapsExplorer is back and is going to be on-line again with few more developed things (probably January/February 2016 - no time for that before end of the year - however it was already tested in summer) But you can trust me on that - if real co-op (even requireing client side) was working - we would put it (at least I would) on some server already 1 year ago :). The sad story is - the only one that works was made for Crysis Wars - it's one problem. The second problem is this mod is unfinished and as I said before soldiers are not animated there. They slide on unmoving feet with hands spreaded like dummies :) sure they shoot you (and your co-op friend) but it really looks stupid and considering great things we have here in CryMP.Net - I don't think that would be something we reall want in "new Crysis". Imagine making video of this kind of co-op :) forget it :) I was testing CW co-op 4 years ago and It was sad experience. Anyway... One thing I have to mention - in that Crysis Wars co-op - there is option to fight against ghosts also - since they don't use legs to move around - and they just float in the air, turning around, following you and killing if you don't atack them first - it looks pretty nice there. Only good thing in that mod. But still it's Crysis Wars not Crysis MP - so has to be convert to work with Crysis anyway. I don't think it's worth doing without real soldiers and still requiring client side files. I still think about making co-op as map side mod in Crysis MP - that would NOT need client side mods (just like my other mods Predator Hunter / BF3 Realism / Icarus Wigs / Paramotor - that work on maps / servers - based on flowgraphs mainly). You enter server and you enjoy. But won't be possible to fight against soldiers - it's going to be more like fighting against robots and aliens - this is possible to make. But making them as "smart" AI as asian soldiers in SP - no way. SP is SP and MP is MP. Can't come together. Unfortunately. So - real co-op for Crysis MP - this is not possible as far as I know - aftar I've done my research during last 3 years. Crytek would help with that giving sources for the game but - don't count on that :) Maybe some tallented programmer who has hundreds of free hours - would do it somehow - but don't expect it in 2016 or 2017. It's too late for that now it's not 2008 or 2009 anymore. Why would someone (beside us) do it. But I will try my own way during next years since Sandbox2 still has a lot of "secrets" to use and options to discover. I've already tested few things last year for co-op - it works fine :) but it's gonna take lot of time so I don't think it's gonna be soon. Especially since I need to retire from map designing probably for whole 2016 - at least for 1 year maybe even more :) Maybe you can find someone who has other ideas how to make real co-op. I couldn't find anybody. I won't try anymore - real modders and map designers of Crysis left already 3 years ago. Thanks for refreshig the ideas though :)

Ok, but is this coop mod poor because it's difficult to program the AI? Also, it seems to me we can't, for now, use the client part of a client-server-side mod, because the SFW client is a client-side mod itself. Right? P.S. Good for the news about Maps Explorer. P.P.S. Pleased to refresh :)

Well. yes exactly! SFW is DLL mod itself so it can't run other DLL type mod (like that CW co-op) together. It's possible to make some new version of SFW (as Zi has said 1 year ago) which would work with other DLL's so mods would be supported along with it - but it requires Zi's time actions on that. I don't think it's important thing to do now since we don't have many dll mods to run with it. And players who would work hard to download and install mods - for most it's so hard you can't imagine :) And MapsExplorer mod is not using DLL cause it's based on lua, flowgraphs, objects, skins and xml files of Crysis - so this is why it works fine with SFW (I was testing latest version with Frankie one day during last summer) I just need to prepare installer for it to make it easier for lazy ones + refresh mapsexplorer.com website finally (which was dead for 2 years) I've alraedy made new version but of course I didn't have time to finish so - 3 months has gone and for next 4 weeks I have no time at all). Early 2016. But anyway it's gonna be on-line for 5-10 years on 1-2 servers with 3-4 Huge maps (Parokour City, Steel Mill Open and 2 other - which I still have in plans. Almost the way it was with Steel Mill Open - 2 years ago. That time also only 6-7 visitors ever month - but at least it was still there, 24/7 - like virtual open-space waiting for lost but brave explorers from time to time ;). It was the idea of MapsExplorer project. This time's going to be even easier to access thanks to our great autodownloader (any new version of maps - will update automatically) and mod installer. So give it some time. I will make it finall (a kind of) and take a break finally :) yeah it's gonna be borring there for most. But not for some :) See you.

Oops... i were speaking about that mod... ^^' However, do you know that they have been able to enable the singleplayer AI in multiplayer?

They also say: "Obviously given the Gamespy server shutdown it is difficult to host a server and Crysis Wars being a multiplayer only title is for the most part useless. We'l be shifting future releases to the original Crysis and see if we can contact one of the many community masterserver providers and see if we can get something more user-friendly working. For our next release we will also likely be providing the source code to the mod so that others can make their own adjustments or continue the mod should we become unable.".
