Well, let's start from end. Some servers use DX10 but not so many. It depends because server list is not same all the time - 50 unique servers online are not useful. :) You can try The Realistic: Classic, or events on fridays and saturdays are usually DX9. By the way, are you sure your computer has enough power to handle Crysis? Multiplayer is sometimes more demanding than singleplayer, especially with many players on server. :)
Next part... those strange servers... First of all you should know some history. When end of GameSpy was near, GerCry started to call themselves as official partners of Crytek and distribute information about their new "Crysis Multiplayer Patch". Sadly, our master-server was known to few people only those times. Many players started to trust GerCry as the only way how to continue playing Crysis MP. After GameSpy-great-shutdown (this is how we should call it :D) terrible times of Crysis multiplayer began and the truth was slowly coming out. Logging in was slow, nobody was able to create his own server, skilled players were kicked out, everyone was forced to play on GerCry servers designed for dumb people and today it's still same there! Many players just left Crysis (especially the skilled loyal ones)... :/ Even Crytek said that they have nothing to do with it, but GerCry keeps saying they're the official, the only, lovers of Crysis and they even want donate for that crap..... just tell me, how anyone who loves Crysis can do something like this? It's one big lie, everything. This is why you can't trust them even single word...
I hope it doesn't look like a hate and now back to your problem. I just want to give you some information but you need to make your own opinion on it. :)
Playing on all servers which are available today is possible even with single Crysis folder. You can make one copy of Crysis for CryMP and one for GerCry (this is how some players do it) but you can also install patch from GerCry to clean Crysis (it needs to be clean because their anti-cheat is bad one) and then install mod from CryMP. Using this hybrid is not hard - for CryMP just use shortcut on Desktop or start Crysis.exe with "-mod sfwcl" parameter (this is what the shortcut does) and for GerCry use directly Crysis.exe and try to survive strange logging in. :) CryMP mod doesn't have problems with working on Crysis "infected" by GerCry but maybe one thing - patch from GerCry contains LAWMod (integrated cheat - LAW auto-aim) and it's not allowed here. Most of servers won't kick or ban you for it here but it isn't good thing. If you have enough space on disk, making second copy of your Crysis folder will be better idea maybe. :)
