"There is no disk in the drive....:" on Mesa2.4

Hello, Having recently installed Crysis 1 (through Origin Access) and the SafeWriting client form crysis1.com, I am not able to connect to Mesa2.4 servers - the map downloads fine but halfway through the map loading screen I get an error asking me to put a disc in drive D (I don't even have a drive D nor an optical drive). Built-in maps look fine so it's not an issue with the DRM. In the map's "level.pak" there is a fileinfo.xml or levelinfo.xml (can't remember right now, will reboot into Windows and check if needed) that refers to the path of the map files. Built-in maps use relative paths to the game's folder, so paths are like "Game/Levels/Multiplayer/PS/Mesa". In the Mesa2.4 this path is absolute and uses "D:/Crysis Installs/Crysis1/...". Would anyone be able to get in touch with the map maker and resolve this? I tried fixing it myself on my copy of the game however it seems like the game compares my map with the server's and disconnects with "Map version differs from server", so there's nothing I can do myself and until the map maker fixes I can't play (unless I add another hard drive and replicate the D:/Crysis Installs/... file path). Regards.

Hi. Since it's not official server - we can't help you much. Please contact Forsaken it's his server/map you're talking about. Should solve your issue somehow I hope. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply - do you know of a way to contact him (or could you send him the link of this thread if you've got his email/Skype)? I can't find any way of sending private messages on this forum and he doesn't seem to have an account on Crysis1.com either so I'm kinda lost as to what to do next. Thanks.

Hi, i will tell Forsaken to come here and read this. But if you want a quick answer, write him on Skype (outpostarc1) or Discord (Forsaken#2374).

By the way, i re-read your original post, and mostly when you get this error message during map loading, if you click Cancel or Continue several times in row, the map will then load. Something may be missing there, but you will be able to play.

I would be happy to give you a torrent link where you can torrent the original DVD iso of the game, and install a new copy (I don't know anything about the steam version). Otherwise, Here is the download link for mesa 2.4, unzip the 'levels' file to the crysis game folder (Crysis/game). https://www.dropbox.com/s/gucalmpfe822mvt/Mesa2.4.zip?dl=1 I'm not sure where the crysis folder for the steam version is, so just right click on your shortcut and click open folder. As for freebo, REALLY DUDE? this is clearly a problem with the downloader/game install and doesn't have anything to do with weather or not the server is official. I'm disappointed in your response.

Forsaken: "As for freebo, REALLY DUDE? this is clearly a problem with the downloader/game install and doesn't have anything to do with weather or not the server is official. I'm disappointed in your response." Actually from my experience (it's all I can rely on) downloader works fine as long as map version and link (also server with map copy) are prepared properly. Even though this "insert CD" shows up sometimes on some computers - map should download and start anyway in a second. So maybe it doesn't work with your server somehow, even though map is fine. It's your server therefore I can be wrong. But you're mistaken about Official/Private difference which I was talking about. That it doesn't matter as you say. Because I take full responsibility for official servers functions and any errors that people can encounter there. We can easily work on fixing any issues on official servers like we have for 3 years many times. Fixing stuff reported by users. Private servers though are free to modify, anything there depends ONLY on their admins - and we can never predict what's going to happen there. We can't know what's going on there every time. And it's also not our business. Admins are free to do whatever they want. This is the point of private, 100% independent servers. That's exactly what my response was about in terms of private servers. Nothing more. As simple as that. Your "disappointment" is incomprehensible in this case. But that's fine as long as you play fair. Besides, speaking about disappointing answers - some people were "disappointed" with your answers few times in the past as far as I remember. But it doesn't matter at all, nobody really cares nowadays - so no big deal. It's perfectly fine. Simply have fun and enjoy your servers. I hope all is going to work fine for you and your players. Good luck.

Wait, what? He actually said he found an absolute path "D:/Crysis Installs/Crysis1/..." in fileinfo.xml among map files. How can this be a problem with installation? It's inside a map files. Sure, he can reinstall a game into D:/Crysis Installs/Crysis1 and then it will work but that's just plain stupid. No map should require a user to have a game in specific directory on disk. If the map uses relative paths everywhere, it will work for everyone.

Right now i can only suggest you to manualy fix those paths in the downloaded map, or try to get around those error messages by clicking Continue or Cancel several times in row.

Okay, so if this is an issue with the map files, then what is the problem? If there is a problem with my map files Ill try to fix it, but I HIGHLY doubt that's the problem.
