Create map option........

Hi there, not sure if I'm doing this right, :ie, putting this here, but looking for advice if anyone can help would be most appreciated. Had played Crysis for many years on the old multi servers, only recently found this mod whilst doing search for existing servers for this game..... Anyways, managed to get thing sorted and can join maps and play.. Hugely grateful and delighted so many thanks to those concerned for their efforts. My problem is this, my mate and I can create a map and play against each other 'providing' we are both on same 'internet provider', which means I'm either in his house, or he in mine!.. Whilst this is a joy, we would like to create map and play whilst in our own homes, I can see his name in the list after he creates map, he gives me password but cant gain successful access and visa versa, (error warning, 'timed out').. Is there something we're not doing right?... Or is it just not an option?... Many thanks in advance.. Best regards.

You want to play when you are in your home and he is in his home or you want to play when you two are in same home on same wifi?

Hi Zi, thanks for answering this. Yeh, when we were trying to get the SFW Client to work, I was at his place, we figured out maybe we needed the patches in order to match the same IP address as the servers we where seeing, this was obviously right as it worked after installing patches. So we tried creating game as we had always played against each other in the past without the craziness of multiplayer, gave us the chance to play more stealth. This also worked great, so naturally we thought it would when I got back to mine. He created game, gave me password but it would not connect, (I couldn't join his game} So we took away the password, still no joy. So I created game at mine, and he had same problem, he couldn't join my game. I got into it fine, no problem, but try as we might, we couldn't join the others game, at this point we figured it was an internet problem? I decided to ask here in the hope that it might be something others had figured out. Again, thanks for getting back to me man, very much appreciated.

I think problem is your provider uses NAT, so it's impossible to connect to each other even if you both have same provider. There are two things you can try, try to go to settings of your router (only one who hosts server has to do this) and search for port forwarding, there you add UDP and port of your server (usually 64087) for your computer local IP (see ipconfig to find that one, it mostly looks like either 192.168... or 10...) If this doesn't work, Hamachi is still a thing :D you can run server as usual and run Hamachi on background, then your friend just writes: connect 25.1.2.3 (your Hamachi IP address) to connect and everything should work :D

And if you never used Hamachi before, you both install it, one creates network, second one joins it and that's all

I knos whats the issue, because i did the same with my friend. The issue is that Crysis does not require a cd to run the game. What you have done is both of you installed with the same disk. So this creates an issue when wanting to play,i dont know the intuitive reasoning behind this but you will have difficulties to play together as long as you play with the game installed from the same cd/dvd.. One of you need to uninstall the game, and get a new unique one buy it or download it online. And try again and be so sure it will work. Me and my sister used to play together and it worked as far as i can remember without any issues. Try to download the game let the other person use the bought version. It should work
